One particular observation that struck me about the Lalique collection, especially given its premium, was the dust covers. For such exquisite and expensive candles, I was surprised to find that the dust covers lacked holes for the wicks, resulting in flattened and potentially damaged wicks.
Despite this minor design oversight, there’s no denying that the Lalique vessels themselves are nothing short of incredible. They are real works of art, testament to the brand’s heritage of exquisite glasswork.
My journey through Harrods’ sixth-floor candle haven allowed me to explore several world-leading luxury scented candle brands. Among the collections I immersed myself in were Trudon, established in 1643, Ginori, established in 1735, Baobab, and Edion. Ginori (Established 1735): Ginori, founded as Doccia Porcelain Manufactory by Marquis Carlo Ginori near Florence, Italy, initially focused on exquisite porcelain. While their vessels carry that distinct Italian flair for design, it was the overall sensory experience that truly captivated.
Of course, I also admired the impressive offerings from Baobab and Edion, each bringing their unique blend of aesthetics and olfactory delights to the luxury candle market.
