Harrods Shopping. The Most Expensive Candles In London.

Most Expensive Candles in London: Harrods Shopping Tour

As a purveyor of luxury, hand-poured scented candles at That Candle Company, I recently visited Harrods. My mission was to uncover the most expensive candles in London. I discovered a world where fragrance meets high artistry. In this world, craftsmanship commands truly astonishing price tags.

The most shocking moment was seeing a Lalique candle priced at £2190.00. Yes, two thousand one hundred and ninety pounds for one candle! While the price is an attention-grabber, the small details piqued my interest as a candle maker. I filmed my experience, which you can watch below.

Watch my behind-the-scenes look at the world’s most luxurious candles, from £2190 Lalique masterpieces to historic royal scents.

One particular observation that struck me about the Lalique collection, especially given its premium, was the dust covers. For such exquisite and expensive candles, I was surprised to find that the dust covers lacked holes for the wicks, resulting in flattened and potentially damaged wicks.

Despite this minor design oversight, there’s no denying that the Lalique vessels themselves are nothing short of incredible. They are real works of art, testament to the brand’s heritage of exquisite glasswork.

My journey through Harrods’ sixth-floor candle haven allowed me to explore several world-leading luxury scented candle brands. Among the collections I immersed myself in were Trudon, established in 1643, Ginori, established in 1735, Baobab, and Edion. While there were other prestigious names, I’ll save those fascinating discoveries for a future blog post.

A Closer Look at the Luxury Brands

Trudon (Established 1643): Steeped in history, Trudon holds the remarkable distinction of being the oldest candlemaker in the world, having been the official candle supplier to the French royal court, including Louis XIV. When examining their single wick candles, priced around £100.00, I was initially surprised by the rather ordinary appearance of their glass vessels. However, any reservations quickly melted away as I experienced their exceptional cold throw and diverse range of captivating scents. They also showcased an impressive multi-wick candle, commanding a price of approximately £900.00. The heritage and the quality of the fragrance are undeniable.

Ginori (Established 1735): Ginori, founded as Doccia Porcelain Manufactory by Marquis Carlo Ginori near Florence, Italy, initially focused on exquisite porcelain. Over centuries, they’ve evolved into a symbol of Italian luxury, and their venture into candles reflects this legacy of artistry. While their vessels carry that distinct Italian flair for design, it was the overall sensory experience that truly captivated.

Of course, I also admired the impressive offerings from Baobab and Edion, each bringing their unique blend of aesthetics and olfactory delights to the luxury candle market.
